Roe v. Wade Petition

Dear Senator,

As a voter in your state, I am writing to request that you honor the privacy rights and health care concerns of women when considering the nomination of federal judges and any future Supreme Court nominees. During this, the 30th anniversary year of the landmark Roe v. Wade decision, the constitutional protection guaranteeing women the option of safe and legal abortion is in great danger of being undermined and possibly overturned.

When the time comes for the Senate to conduct hearings and cast a vote on a Supreme Court nomination, I urge you to carefully study the record of the candidates and demand full public disclosure of their writings and views. Any nominee must be asked her/his position on Roe v. Wade and the people of the U.S. must be informed of their views and records regarding privacy, family planning and abortion rights. Reproductive freedom and a woman's ability to determine her childbearing is a crucial issue to me, and to the majority of American voters. We will be watching carefully to see how the Senate conducts itself when faced with a nomination that could affect generations of women, and it will certainly determine my vote.

Signed,
