Women's Rights Campaign Announced to Block Samuel Alito's Confirmation to the Supreme Court

Freedom Winter ’06

In the spirit of the civil rights movement of 1964, the National Organization for Women, the National Congress of Black Women, and the Feminist Majority Foundation will introduce a coordinated nationwide effort to stop the confirmation of Judge Samuel Alito to the United States Supreme Court. The press conference will outline our joint campaign to engage women, especially college students, in the fight for their future — and to draw national attention to Alito's abysmal record on women's rights.

Who: Kim Gandy, President, National Organization for Women
E. Faye Williams, President, National Congress of Black Women
Eleanor Smeal, President, Feminist Majority Foundation
What: Women's rights press conference to block confirmation of Samuel Alito to the Supreme Court.
When: Wednesday, Jan. 4, 10:00 a.m.
Where: National Press Club, 529 14th Street NW, Washington, D.C. Lisagor Room
