October 29, 1998

Patricia Ireland, president of the nation's largest feminist organization and chair of  NOW PACs, is available for Election Day  and post-elections commentary and analysis. Ireland will return to Washington, DC on the eve of the elections following an extensive Women's Votes Count Campaign tour.

The Women's Votes Count Campaign is designed to turnout women to vote for candidates who support feminist issues. NOW PACs are supporting candidates in 28 states across the country. Key races have been targeted in several states including California, Colorado, Illinois, Ohio, Washington and Wisconsin. In addition, NOW has coordinated campaigns to defeat anti-affirmative action and anti-abortion initiatives and referenda in Washington and Colorado.

In addition to Ireland, NOW Vice Presidents Kim Gandy, Elizabeth Toledo and Karen Johnson are also available for interviews and commentary. All of  NOW's officers have been in the field working on the elections.

With more than 500,000 contributing members from every state and the District of Columbia, NOW and its political action committees play an important and unique role in electoral politics. Ireland and NOW's other officers will be prepared to discuss the impact of the women's vote and feminist issues on the 1998 elections and beyond.
