PATRICIA IRELAND JOINS ILLINOIS WOMEN LEADERS TO KICK-OFF WOMEN'S VOTES COUNT CAMPAIGN

OCTOBER 14, 1998

NOW President Patricia Ireland will join prominent local and state women leaders to kick-off a Women's Votes Count countdown campaign aimed at all levels of government in Illinois -- local, state and federal.  The impressive group of leaders is calling on women to get out and vote for women's rights candidates and issues.

"Women voters made the difference in 1992 -- the so-called Year of the Woman -- when we tripled the number of women senators.  Women voters must also make the difference in 1998 when we send these senators back to Washington, and send them reinforcements," said NOW President Patricia Ireland.
