Shirley Manson Joins NOW/PAC President Kim Gandy to Stop the Bush Agenda; GOTV Rally on UW-Madison Campus's Library Mall on Friday Afternoon October 28, 2004 "The young women's vote is crucial in this election," said NOW/PAC President Kim Gandy. "We will be in Madison, Wisconsin to remind young women they have the power to stop Bush's war on women by voting on Tuesday." Garbage lead singer Shirley Manson will join NOW/PAC President Kim Gandy on the UW-Madison campus to urge all students to vote for Sen. John Kerry. "Hard-won reproductive rights, civil rights and environmental protections hang by a thread in the Supreme Court. The Bush administration is responsible for the scaling back educational equity under Title IX and cutting campus safety programs provided by Violence Against Women Act. The past three years, we've seen an unprecedented widening of the wage gap between women and men, and a tanking economy, which reduces the number of well-paying jobs for college graduates. We must reverse this damage on Nov. 2," Gandy said. Local DJs, who are standing up to the radical right in this election, will be playing music throughout Friday's rally.
