Makes a Wish for Global Attention to Women's Health

October 13, 2000

"The Women's International Symposium on Health (WISH) on October 14-16 in Washington, D.C. will bring women together from around the globe to discuss women's health concerns from an activist and policy perspective," said Karen Johnson a National Organization for Women (NOW) Foundation Vice President and a lead organizer of the Symposium. "Activists and health professionals from the U.S., Nigeria, Benin and Mozambique to Bolivia and more will discuss the current state of health care for women and strategize for the future."

An international delegation representing more than eighty countries from six continents will attend both WISH and the World March of Women 2000, also in Washington, D.C. on October 15. These women will demand equality and an end to poverty and violence against women at the World March, and discuss the solutions to these global epidemics which disproportionately affect women, at the Symposium.
