World March of Women 2000: October 15

October 3, 2000

"Just three weeks before the November election, tens of thousands of activists will gather in Washington, D.C. to demand an end to poverty and violence against women and to call for equality between women and men," said National Organization for Women (NOW) President Patricia Ireland.  "The World March of Women 2000 will send a message to local, national and world leaders that women's rights are a global priority."

In the U.S., more than 300 organizations are sponsoring a march on October 15 in Washington, D.C., and women and men from across the country and around the world will attend.
