At the 2005 National NOW Conference, members passed a resolution calling for full participation in the Sept. 24 mobilization. Members declared that the Bush administration led the country to war under false pretenses and that the administration's actions have spread hatred and distrust of the U.S. worldwide, undermining the security of our nation. The resolution noted that militarism and war increase all forms of violence against women and girls and lead to the defunding of basic human needs. "Enough is enough-feminists are calling for an immediate end to this destructive and costly war," said NOW Action Vice President Melody Drnach. She added: "NOW calls on our country's leaders to remember that plans for the future of Iraq must include full equality and representation for women."
