Week of Action Planned to Oppose John Roberts

NOW and Other Leading Women's & Civil Rights Organizations Plan Visibility Events, Dawn Vigil, and Rally to Coincide with Roberts Confirmation Hearings

Mon, Sept. 12 - Fri, Sept. 16
Various Locations on Capitol Hill

WHO: The National Organization for Women (NOW) and other leading women's rights and civil rights groups.
WHAT: Leading organizations are bringing activists, including college students, from across the country for a Week of Action to say No on Roberts. Actions include a Dawn Vigil on Monday, a Rally on Thursday, and daily visibility events throughout the week. These events are being coordinated by the No on Roberts Caucus.
SCHEDULE OF EVENTS:

Mon, Sept. 12

  • Dawn Vigil from 5:30 - 9:30 a.m.
  • Visibility Rally from 11:00 a.m. - 12 noon.
    Behind Senate Russell Office Building on C St, between Delaware and 1st Streets, NE
  • Tue, Sept. 13 - Fri, Sept. 16 Daily visibility presence outside hearings:
    7 - 9 a.m., 12-1:30 p.m.
    Behind Senate Hart Office Building on C St, between 1st and 2nd Streets, NE

    Thu, Sept. 15

  • Lunchtime Rally, 12 noon - 1:00 p.m., location TBD
  • NOW Lobby Day, 1:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m., Senators' offices
  • WHY: Ordinary women and men will face extraordinary harm to their rights, their families and their very lives if the nomination of John Roberts to the U.S. Supreme Court is confirmed. Leading women's rights, civil rights, reproductive rights, disability rights and religious liberty and progressive activist organizations - representing millions of people in the U.S. - are taking action.
