National Organization for Women Joins Camp Democracy

On the one year anniversary of Hurricane Katrina, the National Organization for Women will participate in a joint press conference to launch Camp Democracy—a movement to bring more attention to domestic problems, rebuild the Gulf Coast, and call for an end to the death and destruction in the Middle East.
"There are families displaced and torn apart; there is poverty and disease, there are neighborhoods destroyed—and I'm not just describing the Middle East," says NOW president and New Orleans native, Kim Gandy.

"I still consider New Orleans my home, and one year after Hurricane Katrina, my city is miles from recovery. NOW is joining Camp Democracy to tell the Bush administration: Enough is enough," said Gandy.
