NOW President Kim Gandy Marks Women's Equality Day in New Hampshire: Challenges Records of Smith and Sununu on Women's Issues August 23, 2002 "The U.S. Senate race in New Hampshire is a stark example of how important this year's elections are to women's rights," said NOW President Kim Gandy. "On Women's Equality Day, we must ask 'Who best represents the future for women in New Hampshire and across the country?'" Gandy will review the records of Republican U.S. Senate hopefuls Sen. Bob Smith and Rep. John Sununu and Democratic candidate Gov. Jeanne Shaheen on women's issues.
"The U.S. Senate is poised to make some crucial calls for women over the next several years," Gandy noted. "With judicial nominees yet to be considered and the potential for a Supreme Court nominee during Bush's term, we must do all we can to ensure that women's rights are protected." ### FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE |
