NOW President Re-Elected to Second Term July 2, 2005
Today, the National Organization for Women re-elected Kim Gandy to her second term as President of the nation's largest feminist organization. A long-time activist, Gandy has served NOW at the local, state and national level since 1973, including 14 years in Louisiana. As President, Gandy will continue as the principal spokesperson for the organization and also lead NOW's Foundation and Political Action Committees. "Together, we will continue moving forward in this crucial time as women's rights are at stake," Gandy said. Joining Gandy as NOW's national leaders are Olga Vives, who will move from Action Vice President to Executive Vice President; Melody Drnach, who will take over as Action Vice President; and Latifa Lyles, who will serve as Membership Vice President. "NOW will lead the fight to ensure that Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O'Connor is not replaced with a right-wing extremist judge," Gandy said. "Women are counting on NOW to stand up for their fundamental freedoms and we are determined to succeed in that fight." ### For Immediate ReleaseContact: Mai Shiozaki, 202-628-8669, ext. 116; cell 202-641-1906 |
