NOW President Patricia Ireland, author of the new book, What Women Want;
Mandy Carter, a leading African American lesbian activist who is heading the North Carolina Mobilization '96 campaign to defeat Sen. Jesse Helms;
Katie Quan, a garment trades activist and leader with the Union of Needletrades, Industrial and Textile Employees (UNITE); and
Claudia Crown Ades, a reproductive rights activist who testified about her medically necessary abortion and supported President Clinton's veto of the late-term abortion bill.

WOMAN OF COURAGE AWARDS PRESENTED TO:

Mimi Ramsey, a survivor of female genital mutilation who founded FORWARD USA, an organization dedicated to eradicating this dangerous, debilitating ritual;
Rachel Bauchman, a Salt Lake City, Utah, high school senior who has received anti-Semitic threats after she filed a suit against a public school system that allows her choir director to proselytize Christianity in his role as director;
Claudia Crown Ades, for her reproductive rights activism.
