NOW PICKETS FOX -- "NETWORK OF SHAME"

"The National Organization for Women is giving a heads-up to FOX -- and to all the networks -- that feminists are watching," NOW President Patricia Ireland said.  NOW is targeting the FOX Network for protest, having recently named it a "Network of Shame."  Ireland will join activists to demonstrate outside the FOX affiliate in Washington, D.C.

As part of NOW's Watch Out, Listen Up! campaign, teams of feminist analysts across the country rated primetime programs on ABC, CBS, FOX and NBC by documenting incidents of violence, gender composition/stereotypes, sexual exploitation and social responsibility. NBC was ranked the "Primetime Leader" in the Feminist Primetime Report.

"The media has a huge impact on public perception and opinions as well as on how we see ourselves," Ireland said.  "So we are looking forward to more woman-positive and women-friendly shows."  NOW activists will continue to organize protests at FOX affiliate stations in cities across the country.
