NOW LAUNCHES CAMPAIGN OF INFORMATIONAL PICKETS AT MITSUBISHI DEALERSHIPS OVER MOTHER'S DAY WEEKEND

THURSDAY, MAY 9, 1996

NOW's national campaign against the management of Mitsubishi Motor Manufacturing Corporation begins Saturday and Sunday, May 11-12, with informational pickets at Mitsubishi dealerships in cities across the country.

"The management-staged picket to intimidate the EEOC and women who have been sexually harassed was the most appalling response to sexual harassment we've seen since Anita Hill was grilled by the Senate Judiciary Committee," said NOW President Patricia Ireland. "We're staging these informational pickets to get the stakeholders -- the dealerships, advertisers, consumers, employees -- to call Mitsubishi on its unacceptable corporate behavior, and the pressure will continue until Mitsubishi acts responsibly."
