The National Organization for Women (NOW) is targeting one of the four
major networks for protests by naming it a "Network of Shame." As
part of NOW's Watch Out,
Listen Up! campaign, teams of feminist analysts across the country
rated primetime programs on ABC, CBS, FOX, and NBC by documenting incidents
of violence, gender composition/stereotypes, sexual exploitation and social
responsibility. NOW President Patricia
Ireland will release the results at a demonstration in New York City's
Bryant Park on Monday, May 22, 2000 at 12 noon. NOW will also recognize
the network with the highest marks as a "Primetime Leader."
