country at the

Conference, "Living the Dream," focusing on the election of more feminist
women to Congress in 1998 and the campaign for a women-friendly workplace

Presentation of "Women of Courage" Awards to the women battling sexual
harassment and discrimination at Wall Street giant Smith
Barney and at Mitsubishi's
Normal, Ill. auto plant.
"As more women move into non-traditional roles -- whether into powerful
positions in Congress or higher paying jobs in manufacturing or financial
markets -- we are having to fight against resistance to our progress,"
said Ireland, who is up for re-election as NOW's president. "This is a
pivotal conference at which NOW's members will set a course of action to
strengthen the feminist movement and continue the push for women's rights
in every aspect of our daily lives."
