"While the country celebrates and honors mothers, the Bush Administration
works to pass a
budget and tax cuts that will hurt women and our families," said National
Organization for
Women (NOW) Action Vice President
Loretta Kane. "Bush's budget and tax
cut proposals will
disproportionately impact women, and many of his recent judicial nominees
will likely dismantle
the laws that protect and promote women's rights."
NOW President Patricia Ireland
will lead a lunchtime protest of Bush's anti-woman policies in
front of the White House on Monday, May 14.

"During his first 100 days in office, Bush's record on women has been
abysmal. Rather than
govern from the middle as he promised during his campaign, Bush continues
to rule from the
right by cutting social programs important to women, and appointing
right-wing extremists to
key government positions and judgeships," Kane said.
