NOW Launches Women-Friendly Workplace Campaign's Fortune 500 Project

March 29, 1999

"We are wrapping up Women's History Month by acknowledging companies that have joined our campaign for workplace equality -- and by launching an historic new project," said NOW President Patricia Ireland.  Ireland will announce NOW's new Fortune 500 Project at a briefing to be held in Washington, DC at 10:30 AM on March 31, 1999.

The Fortune 500 Project is the latest addition to NOW's Women-Friendly Workplace Campaign which uses consumer education and public pressure to encourage companies to provide fair working conditions.  NOW's campaign has made substantial progress at Smith Barney and Mitsubishi Motors, two of its previous targets.
