Save the Date: Emergency Action for Women's Lives, April 22, 2001

April 6, 2001

"With a Bush administration committed to limiting reproductive rights and rumors that U.S. Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O'Connor may retire at the end of this term, the National Organization for Women has declared a state of emergency," said NOW President Patricia Ireland. "Reproductive right supporters from across the country will converge in Washington D.C. on April 22 for the Emergency Action for Women's Lives, targeting the Senate to prevent the packing of the Supreme Court with anti-abortion rights justices."

The Emergency Action for Women's Lives will kick off a four-year campaign by NOW and more than 100 organizational and congressional sponsors. The action will cap two weeks of state lobbying events during the Senate's spring recess and will include a virtual action to inundate senators with e-mail messages upon their return to Washington.
