NOW President Joins Washington Area Activists at Supreme Court to Celebrate 30th Anniversary of Roe v. Wade January 17, 2003 "January 22 marks the thirtieth anniversary of Roe v. Wade, the landmark case which made abortion legal in the U.S.," said National Organization for Women (NOW) President Kim Gandy. "Reproductive rights supporters will commemorate the Roe v. Wade anniversary by renewing their commitment to ensure that abortion rights remain intact." Gandy will join Washington, D.C., area activists for a candlelight vigil in front of the Supreme Court. "We will remember the lives lost or destroyed by dangerous illegal abortion and rededicate ourselves to protecting reproductive rights for future generations," Gandy said. Gandy will also be available for comment throughout the day on January 22 and at a news conference at 10am at the Hotel Washington. NOW chapters across the country are holding vigils and other events on the anniversary of Roe v. Wade. NOW activists will also remind Congress of their voting power with a pro-reproductive rights postcard campaign to Senators. What: Roe v.
