Membership Specialist:

Join our experienced in-house team processing thousands of contributions annually in a fast-paced, demanding and supportive feminist atmosphere. Candidate must have excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Ideal candidate will have some experience with databases, data entry, and customer service. Candidate should be able to work independently.


Responsibilities include:

  • Processing incoming memberships and contributions.
  • Regular updating of membership database.
  • Regular sorting and filing of department files and data-entry batches.
  • Providing personalized customer service for members, donors, and others.
  • Assisting the Finance Department with payment processing
  • Working with interns and volunteers.


Required:

  • Strong desire to learn new skills.
  • Ability to work independently
  • Must be very organized
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities and juggle multiple tasks in a deadline driven program.
  • High comfort level with Windows PC environment.
  • Experience working with databases and spreadsheets recommended, but not necessary.
  • Good written and verbal communications skills.


Salary and Benefits:

Senior Accountant

Reports to: President of NOW

Primary Duties:

  • Assist the President in maintaining all contractual agreements, including office lease, consultants and vendor contracts, reviewing agreements and submitting timely payments
  • Assist the President during annual audit process, including scheduling the audit and preparing trial balances and other reports
  • Assist the President in preparing and developing annual budget
  • Prepare financial and other analytical reports as requested by the President to be presented in board meetings
  • Work with the organization's accounting firm to:
    • manage inter-organizational transactions
    • prepare and post journal entries
    • update the general ledger and chart of accounts
    • Document and implement revisions to the organization's financial procedures manual
  • Work with an outsourced payroll company to process semi-monthly payroll for staff salary and benefits
  • Supervise accounting assistant in:
    • Maintaining all accounts payable files
    • Processing the accounts payable cycle for all vendors
    • Processing monthly dues rebate payments for the organization's chapters
  • Main point of contact for all vendors, bank representatives, and payroll company
  • Maintain petty cash account, reimbursing staff for expenses as needed
  • Monitor and record daily cash flow activities for each bank account
  • Perform monthly cash and bank reconciliation by the 12th of the following month
  • Other duties as assigned


The successful candidate will:

  • Have strong skills in utilizing accounting software, preferably MIP
  • Have strong communication skills
  • Be able to work in a fast-paced but supportive environment
  • Demonstrate sound judgment and possess high degree of professional integrity
