Book Reading and Open Mike
Come hear stories from the new book "That Takes Ovaries!: Bold Females and Their Brazen Acts," read by local performers then share YOUR OWN real-life tales about being a brazen babe. Your story can cover anything you have ever done little or big, silly or serious that was gutsy, outrageous, audacious, courageous or inspirational. Anything that, when you think about it today, makes you nod your head with pride or even semi-disbelief and think, "Wow! I did that!" Come read your pre-written tale or share one off the top of your head. (Stories should be true, short: 1-5 minutes) Or come hear others tell about their wild-n-crazy, daring deed! The book is coupled with a grassroots movement for empowerment: women and girls everywhere have inspiring stories to tell, there will be "That Takes Ovaries!" open mikes and dramatizations held around the country, many as fundraisers for good grrrl causes.
Twin Cities Women’s Choir
The choir was founded in August 1997 by Mary A. Bussman and a group of 16 dedicated singers. They have grown into a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization with an active board, committed financial supporters, and energetic singers ranging from 40-50 women during any given season.
They perform music from all cultures and traditions that provide musical challenges, meaningful text, and an entertaining performance, including jazz standards, classical repertoire, newly commissioned works, folk music of all cultures, and sacred music from all traditions. Twin Cities Women's Choir performs two major concerts each season, and also programs several small community performances as a way to more personally build connections with the diverse communities of Minneapolis and St. Paul.
