NOW is excited to participate in the 1999 Lilith Fair Tour. A NOW representative will be traveling on a Lilith Fair bus and tabling at each concert.

For questions about Lilith Fair call the Action Center at 202-331-0066. Rebecca Farmer will be the NOW organizer on the tour July 9 - August 6. Sarah "Sassa" Rabin will be the NOW organizer on the tour August 6 - August 29.

State and local NOW chapters are encouraged to place 3 volunteers at the table for the day of the Lilith Fair in their area. Passes will be provided for the volunteers, in exchange for assisting the NOW staff.

Volunteers may hand out literature, chapter information and circulate stickers, buttons and petitions to promote national, state and local NOW. This is a great opportunity for NOW members to interact with young feminists and gain new chapter members. Our presence at the concerts is important for visibility and for promoting projects such as Love Your Body Day. We'll be handing out membership information, petitions and postcards. We hope that you'll join us.
 

Frequently Asked Questions

A:   We will talk with concert-goers about NOW and current NOW projects, as well as     distribute membership information, petitions and postcards.

A:   All Lilith volunteers must make arrangements with either Rebecca or Cindy prior to the     concert.  Local NOW leadership will be contacted to make volunteer arrangements by either Rebecca or Cindy.  he passes are for NOW activists who are willing to work (and have fun!) at the booth for the majority of the concert.

A:   The NOW organizers can be contacted via cellular phone, 202-256-9126, after July 5. You can also contact Sassa, the Action Center Liaison.

A:   We are not allowed to sell our merchandise at the information table, however we will ask for donations.  Some NOW products will be sold by Lilith Fair staff in a separate tent.Chapters should not bring merchandise to sell.

A:   Designated volunteers should meet either Rebecca, Cindy, or Claudette Silver (Lilith Fair     non-profit group liaison) at the Will Call window 1 ½ hours prior to gate opening time.Gates at most venues open at 3 pm, therefore most volunteers will meet at 1:30 pm.Promptness is appreciated!  It's helpful for the volunteers to arrive together, as much as possible. Wearing NOW t-shirts is not only great publicity, but a good way for Rebecca, Cindy or Claudette to find you.

A:   NOW applied for Lilith exhibit space last year.  We don't know of any way to arrange chapter tables.  You should call Lilith Fair directly to try to negotiate separately. Since Lilith is on the road, your best bet is to share the NOW table. Check the Lilith fair web site for ongoing information.

A:   No, all housing has been pre-arranged.
