Thanks to her,
we can all feel at home on the range.
'Girls don't do such things.' Such was the conventional wisdom
in the small town in which she grew up. But she didn't see it as wisdom;
quite the opposite. So she began proving her point on the hard ranges
of Wyoming, herding cattle with the best cowboys in the state. Then
she found her magic forest, the U.S. Park
Service and a home on her terms, on her range. And she made us
all proud that today girls do do such things.
