1998 Women's Rights Convention and Vision Summit

Session Descriptions

WORKSHOPS: Leadership Skills College

Hands-on workshops designed to enhance grassroots organizing skills. Beginning and advanced skill levels.

PLENARIES: Understanding Our Past

On Friday, we will examine feminist history -- and NOW's history -- and assess our current situation. We will develop a common understanding to be ready to share our inspiration for the future.

CAUCUSES: Sharing Ourselves

Why do we participate in the feminist movement? What does feminism mean in our lives? Participants will be encouraged to share their personal stories. The stories of who we are and what we have experienced will shape our vision for the 21st century.

VISIONING WORKSHOPS: Shaping the Vision

On Saturday we will begin work on the new vision statement. Group sessions will be presented with questions/ideas that will generate concepts to be included in the vision statement. The results will be compiled, and the entire conference body will debate and refine the vision statement on Sunday.

PLENARY: Vision Statement: A New Declaration of Sentiments

Participants will discuss and delegates will vote on a new Declaration of Sentiments for the 21st Century. All those attending will have an opportunity to sign the Declaration in the closing ceremony.

WOMEN'S RIGHTS TOUR

This will be an uplifting two day journey following the conference through an area rich in feminist history.
