Proposed Amendment to National NOW Bylaws

The purpose of this amendment (proposed at the March 2009 National Board meeting) is to grant additional time for planning and implementation of virtual chapters. Delegates will be able to vote on this change on June 21 at the 2009 National NOW Conference in Indianapolis. Read more about the conference and learn about the delegate credentialing process.

Current Bylaws (Unamended)

Article IV. Subunits
Section 1. Chapters
B. With the exception of matters regarding voting privileges and rebates, policy implementing the virtual chapter amendment shall be promulgated by the NOW national board by March 1, 2009, and that bylaws amendment shall be effective at the close of the 2009 National Conference.

B. Implementation of all virtual chapter bylaws changes shall be delayed. In the meantime, a taskforce of up to 15 NOW members, with a diverse experience of leadership and grassroots organizing within NOW, shall be appointed by the NOW President, with the advice and consent of the Board, to advise the Board on recommended policies and any necessary bylaws changes on virtual chapters and related matters.
