NEW YEAR STARTS WITH LEGISLATIVE VICTORIES FOR WOMEN On Jan. 5, President Bush signed the bill to reauthorize the Violence Against Women Act. He also signed an appropriations bill that, among other things, requires the Bureau of Labor Statistics to continue collecting data on women workers. By the time the Senate Judiciary Committee hearings began on Monday, activists in our "Enraged and Engaged" campaign were already hard at work at phone banks, flyering and meeting with senators.
