MOSTLY SERIOUS NEW YEAR'S RESOLUTIONS

Enraged and Engaged NOW President Kim Gandy writes in her Below the Belt column: "I resolve not to be fooled by Sam Alito's evasion, obfuscation, and wiggle words (that's a legal term, for all of you non-lawyers) and to focus on his very serious anti-woman ideology, even if it is really funny that his excuses sound a lot like 'the dog ate my homework'."

CELEBRATE 33RD ANNIVERSARY OF ROE VS. WADE ON JANUARY 22, 2006

Candelight Vigil Honoring Roe v. WadeThis week's Senate hearings on the confirmation of Samuel Alito have again highlighted the importance and fragility of women's reproductive rights. On January 22, chapters and activists across the country will be commemorating the 33rd anniversary of the Supreme Court decision that legalized abortion.


NEW YEAR STARTS WITH LEGISLATIVE VICTORIES FOR WOMEN

On Jan. 5, President Bush signed the bill to reauthorize the Violence Against Women Act. He also signed an appropriations bill that, among other things, requires the Bureau of Labor Statistics to continue collecting data on women workers. Read more

By the time the Senate Judiciary Committee hearings began on Monday, activists in our "Enraged and Engaged" campaign were already hard at work at phone banks, flyering and meeting with senators.     SAMUEL ALITO: WRONG JUDGE FOR U.S. WOMEN

    DISH NETWORK DROPS LIFETIME TV

    Two of the most watched cable television networks, Lifetime Television and Lifetime Movie Network, were taken off the air by DISH Network at the end of December when contract negotiations stalled. These networks air important programming of special interest to women. Urge DISH Network to put Lifetime TV back on the air
