highlighted the importance and fragility of women's reproductive rights.
On January 22, chapters and activists across the country will be commemorating
the 33rd anniversary of the Supreme Court decision that legalized abortion.
NEW YEAR STARTS WITH LEGISLATIVE VICTORIES FOR WOMEN
On Jan. 5, President Bush signed the bill to reauthorize the Violence
Against Women Act. He also signed an appropriations bill that, among other
things, requires the Bureau of Labor Statistics to continue collecting

On Jan. 4, NOW joined with Feminist Majority Foundation and the National Congress of Black Women to officially launch our campaign to block the confirmation of Samuel Alito. By
the time the Senate Judiciary Committee hearings began on Monday, activists
in our "Enraged and Engaged" campaign were already hard at work
