The withdrawal by Harriet Miers as a nominee to the Supreme Court illustrates once again the stranglehold George W. Bush's base of religious and political extremists have on his administration. At this time, with the country's leadership in turmoil and confidence in the government steadily declining, now more than ever we need stability ? and a justice who has the confidence of the people of this country. Therefore, NOW is urging Justice Sandra Day O'Connor to reconsider her retirement from the Supreme Court.

SENATE AMENDMENT WOULD REINSTATE DATA COLLECTION FOR WOMEN AT BLS
Thanks to the hard work of Senator Kennedy (D-Mass) an amendment was
added by voice vote to the Senate Labor-HHS Appropriations Bill requiring
the Bureau of Labor Statistics to reinstate collection of the Women Worker
data series. The Bureau of Labor Statistics had announced in August that
it would discontinue collecting data on working women. Read More
