NOW conference delegates re-elected Kim Gandy to her second term as president. Joining Gandy as NOW's national leaders are Olga Vives, who will move from Action Vice President to Executive Vice President; Melody Drnach, who will take over as Action Vice President; and Latifa Lyles, who will serve as Membership Vice President. SUPREME COURT LEAVES WOMEN MORE VULNERABLE TO DOMESTIC VIOLENCE
The Supreme Court ruled that police officers are exempt from legal action, even if their refusal to enforce a valid restraining order results in death. "This is a truly outrageous decision?the U.S. Supreme Court just hung a 'shoot here' sign around the necks of battered women and their children all across the country," said NOW President Kim Gandy.
