Conference Countdown: One Week Left!
With the 2004 National NOW Conference only a week away, I'm writing to encourage you to make last-minute plans to join us in Las Vegas next weekend, July 16-18. It has never been more important for feminists to join together to strategize for the 2004 elections and the years ahead. Register online today!
We're planning many exciting events to make this our best, most inspiring conference ever. We'll hear from fascinating, accomplished speakers including former Democratic presidential candidate Carol Moseley Braun; Congresswoman Hilda Solis (D-Calif.); peace activist Medea Benjamin; 18-year-old Stephanie Alves, founder of a feminist radio station in Boston; Congresswoman Shelley Berkley (D-Nev.); Blue Mountain Arts founder and poet Susan Polis Schutz; scientist and diversity expert Dr. Donna J. Nelson; Laura Flanders, radio host and author of The W Effect: Sexual Politics in the Age of Bush; and Wendy Shanker, author of The Fat Girls Guide to Life. Additionally, on Saturday there will be musical performances by SONiA and Cris Williamson.
We've also lined up a schedule jam-packed with dozens of provocative workshops (here's a full list of workshop topics), including:
- Countering Attacks on Reproductive Rights in the States
- Mobilizing the Young Feminist Vote
- Afghanistan & Iraq: The Impact of War on Women
- Wal-Mart: Merchant of Shame
- State and National Strategies on Marriage Equality/Constitutional Amendments
Again, the 2004 National NOW Conference will be a momentous event that you won't want to miss. We hope to see you in Las Vegas!
For equality,
Kim Gandy
President, National Organization for Women (NOW)
P.S. Remember, you can register online until midnight on Sunday, July 11! For more information, please visit the 2004 National NOW Conference web site.
