RESEARCH INDICATES LONG-TERM RISK TO WOMEN'S HEALTH FROM SILICONE BREAST IMPLANTS NOT FULLY ADDRESSED IN FDA CLINICAL TRIALS Earlier this month a panel convened by the National Organization for Women (NOW) presented the latest research on silicone gel-filled breast implants and called on the Food and Drug Administration to slow the approval process until long-term studies prove that the implants are safe. President Bush continues to nominate contentious candidates to important judicial slots (see Washington Post article) and Senate Democrats continue to block these anti-choice, anti-women's rights appointments. Thank your Senators if they are holding firm on these right wing nominees (see vote on Pryor). Write, call or meet with your Senators and their staff in your hometown while they are on recess during August. Further votes will be scheduled this fall on additional right wing nominees and activists need to let their Senators know that Americans deserve a fair judiciary that supports America's civil, human and privacy rights.		DEMAND EMERGENCY CONTRACEPTION FOR RAPE VICTIMS Contact your U.S. Representative and insist that she or he support a bill that would require hospitals to offer emergency contraception to rape victims as part of the treatment regimen. Take action! BUSH COMES OUT AGAINST GAY MARRIAGE: FEMINISTS CONTINUE FIGHT FOR EQUAL MARRIAGE RIGHTS "The civil rights movement of the 1960's fought for interracial couples to be able to marry?and they won," said NOW President Kim Gandy.
