As the Bush Administration wages war against Saddam Hussein, our hearts and thoughts go out to all those who will suffer as a result of this attack.

Bush's tunnel vision is jeopardizing the women and men serving in the U.S. military and millions of lives in Iraq, where more than half of the population is children.

We call for Bush to end this unprovoked attack immediately and to help restore the democratic principles he has undermined.

We call on leaders around the globe to join in working toward a peaceful, productive future for our world and all of its people.

MILITARY 'DON'T TELL' POLICY HUSHES UP RAPE AND SEXUAL ASSAULT

As dozens of current and former female cadets at the U.S. Air Force Academy reported the academy's mistreatment of women who were raped or sexually assaulted by male cadets, NOW called on the Defense Department to mount a campaign to eradicate violence against women, starting with service members and their families. The abortion procedures ban, which passed in the Senate on March 13, is worded so vaguely that it could criminalize some of the safest and most common abortion procedures. Read more

"Women need a constitutional equality amendment to effectively counter what is already a full-blown campaign to weaken and limit civil rights and to diminish women's rights," said NOW President Kim Gandy.
