Call on Senate to Confirm Hilda Solis

Your state's senators are key to the confirmation of a friend of women's rights and workplace equality as the new Secretary of Labor.

Hilda Solis, a Democratic Member of Congress from California and long-time women's rights advocate, has been nominated by President Barack Obama to serve as his Secretary of Labor. If confirmed, Congresswoman Solis would be the only Latina in the cabinet.

Take Action: Ask your senators to vote to confirm Hilda Solis.

The Senate committee has voted to recommend her confirmation to the full Senate, but there is a threatened filibuster and we need to make sure that there are 60 votes for her confirmation, so your emails and calls will make a difference.

For more about Hilda Solis, read Union Women Eager for Solis to Start Her Work.

For more about how this could affect women, read NOW President Kim Gandy's Below the Belt column The Gift that Keeps on Giving.
