Lieberman to accept the will of the voters, bow gracefully out of the race, and endorse Ned Lamont, the nominee of the party he has served for so many years. This week we witnessed a stunning political upset as progressive challenger Ned Lamont overtook Lieberman, an 18-year incumbent, in Connecticut's Democratic primary to become the Democratic nominee for U.S. Senate. Now Lieberman says he'll run as an Independent -- a strategy that will drain resources from the nationwide efforts to elect candidates who share our values and principles. After the results were in, national Democratic leaders who had endorsed Lieberman in the primary did the right thing -- they embraced Ned Lamont as the candidate chosen by Connecticut voters to represent them in the November elections. And Joe Lieberman should do the same, and withdraw his vow to run against Lamont as an Independent in November. Joe Lieberman needs to hear from you -- please encourage him to reconsider, step back and allow the democratic process to proceed in Connecticut. Sign our petition today, and write a heartfelt personal note of your own, if you wish. We'll deliver all of the signatures to Senator Lieberman along with our own plea that he respect the decision of the voters.
