We know it's short notice, but local activists are joining together TONIGHT at Upper Senate Park for a Candle Light Call to Action. Join us at 8:30 pm! We hope you can make it!
In addition to the rally this evening, we're calling on all our supporters to email their senators and ask them to end the filibuster and vote to bring the troops home!
ACT TONIGHT! While a few Republicans are now calling for a change in the Iraq strategy, the vast majority of that party continues to block full Senate votes on measures that would begin to end the war in Iraq. Many more Republicans are blocking a vote on the Levin-Reed Amendment, which would require the President to take necessary steps to end the war in Iraq.
Tired of being blamed for Republican delays, Senate Democrats are keeping the U.S. capitol open and the Senate in session all night tonight, Tuesday, to expose the Republican non-stop filibuster tactics and make it clear who is REALLY blocking a vote on ending the war.
The Senate Republicans have filibustered or blocked more full Senate votes on important issues, including the Iraq war timetable, in the past six months than any other six month period in the history of the U.S. Senate.
As Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) leads this all-nighter to expose the filibuster to the public and to force Republicans to defend their decision to continue the war in Iraq, you can let your senators know that you want to bring the troops home now. Show your support for this act of leadership by writing to your senators now.
Take Action - send an email to your senators!
