Hello D.C. area NOW supporters!
My name is Rose Afriyie and I am working with the NOW Foundation and am contacting you about a stellar *PAID* opportunity to help us preserve Affirmative Action in Michigan.
The NOW Foundation has received some modest funding to phone our supporters in Michigan to provide them with information and urge them to vote, and we wanted to offer this opportunity for paid activist work to you, our NOW supporters in the D.C. area.
We are calling voters in Michigan to let them know about the so-called "Civil Rights Initiative," which is a ballot measure that could single-handedly ban affirmative action in Michigan (see Background below for more information on the impact of this ban, which could spread to other states if it succeeds in Michigan).
WE MUST DEFEAT IT.
You can make a difference and help protect the rights of women and girls and people of color. Come and join us in this important work.

This is strictly get-out-the-vote work and we'll be dispelling any myths about the so-called "Civil Rights Initiative".
As you know, it's rare that we have the funds to pay people to help us with this work, so we're thrilled to be able to offer $10 an hour for your time in these final days before the election. Hope to hear from you soon.
For equality,
Rose Afriyie
Background:
What the Michigan anti-Affirmative Action initiative would do:
- Eliminate programs that help women achieve pay equity with men. Michigan women are paid 67 cents for every dollar men earn;
- Eliminate programs that encourage women to enter fields where they are underrepresented and could earn higher wages;
- Eliminate outreach and other programs that inform women and minorities of opportunities to earn public contracts;
- Eliminate elementary and high school level reading, science and math programs for female and minority students; and
- Eliminate scholarships and programs that encourage women and minorities to enter medical, science and engineering careers.
