Proceeds will support research on the use of mifepristone to treat progesterone-dependent ovarian and uterine cancers.

The Feminist Majority Foundation is excited to announce its National Walk for Women's Lives, a 5k (3.2 miles) fun-walk on Sunday, April 23, 2006 just outside of Washington, DC.

Rally starts at 9:00 a.m. at the Women's Memorial in Arlington, VA (Ceremonial Entrance to Arlington National Cemetery). The Walk will begin immediately following the rally at 9:30 a.m.

The Walk for Women's Lives will support research and clinical trials on the use of mifepristone to treat progesterone-dependent uterine and ovarian cancers. Progesterone-dependent cancer makes up 85% of uterine cancer and 40% of ovarian cancer!

In an historic breakthrough, the Feminist Majority Foundation will sponsor clinical trials for patients with progesterone-dependent ovarian and uterine cancer in 2006. We have assembled a team of prestigious clinical researchers, attorneys, and FDA specialists who are moving ahead with Phase II clinical trials.

This is the first time in history a women's organization has sponsored clinical trials. Why the Feminist Majority Foundation? We know women can't wait any longer. It's been nearly two decades since mifepristone -- tied up with the abortion debate -- was discovered.

We are counting on your help to make this dream come true. For all the women who are suffering from ovarian and uterine cancer, please join our walk or contribute today. When all else fails, feminists can and will make women's health research move forward.

Together, we can make a difference.

For Women's Health and Lives,

Ellie Smeal

Eleanor Smeal
President

For more than a decade, the Feminist Majority Foundation has been encouraging and advocating for clinical trials using mifepristone to treat many serious and life-threatening diseases which primarily affect women, such as ovarian and uterine cancer. The Feminist Majority Foundation runs the nation's only compassionate use program for mifepristone, providing the drug to critically ill patients.
