Day of Action to Support Hurricane Katrina Survivors
Please join NOW, Rainbow/PUSH, the Hip Hop Caucus, the Gulf Coast Renewal Campaign and others in an afternoon of events supporting the survivors of Hurricane Katrina. At a press conference, march and rally we will protest the evictions of survivors, raise awareness of voting access for evacuees who have been scattered across the country, and support the legislation that would provide comprehensive hurricane relief, reclamation, recovery and restoration for survivors.
On March 14, 2006, while George Bush sleeps peacefully in the White House, 7,000 families, who lost their homes six months ago in Hurricane Katrina, will face eviction from hotels in Louisiana and Mississippi, with no guarantee of shelter on March 15. And they have scheduled an election in New Orleans but still refuse to provide either candidates or incumbents with the current addresses of registered voters who are living temporarily out of state. Join us for the press conference at 1pm, and march with us to the White House!
