C STREET, BETWEEN 1ST AND 2ND STREETS, NE
(Wednesday, September 7 through Friday, September 9)*
Note: May overflow onto 2nd Street between C and Constitution, NE

WHY:

NOW, along with other leading civil rights and women's rights organizations representing millions of constituents nationwide, strongly oppose a lifetime appointment of Supreme Court Nominee John Roberts. It is clear that Roberts will undermine the fundamental rights and liberties we have fought for and won in the past 30 years -- including affirmative action, Title IX equal educational opportunities, constitutional protections against sex discrimination and sexual harassment, the Americans with Disabilities Act, the separation of church and state, voting rights, access to the courts, and our right to personal privacy and reproductive rights.

Our Senators must vote NO on the confirmation of John Roberts, as his confirmation would be a disaster for women and girls for decades to come.

*GETTING A PASS: Official distribution of passes to attend the hearings will begin at 8 a.m. on each day of the hearings. We need as many people as possible to line up for passes as early as possible, starting at around 7 a.m. Passes will be given out on a first come, first served basis at the following locations:

On Tuesday, September 6, 2005: The line for admission into the hearing will start at the NE Corner of Delaware Avenue and C Street NE. The hearing will begin at 1:30 p.m. in Senate Russell Office Building Room 325

On Wednesday, September 7, 2005 continuing through the conclusion of the hearings: The line for admission into the hearing will start at the NW Corner of First Street and C Street NE. The hearing on Sept. 7 and throughout the rest of the week will begin at 9:30 a.m. in the Senate Hart Office Building Room 216.
