Young Feminists Take ACTION!

Get Noticed!!
Make your own: T-shirts and Buttons

Why? To show solidarity, to be noticed, and to inform others about your cause.

How? Have a t-shirt/button/ribbon making party at someone's house or dorm room. Make it fun, provide snacks and play music. Ask a local art supply store to donate the materials. Let the manager know that you are a group of students and that you want to make t-shirts/buttons/ribbons to promote your cause.

When picking a slogan, try to explain your cause as simply as possible, like "No Extreme Supremes".

Do:

  • Print letters boldly and clearly so you can read them far away
  • Choose bright colors that will stand out and catch peoples' eyes.
  • Use cool, catchy slogans

Don't:

  • Use more than 3 colors per shirt/ribbon/button
  • Write too much. Keep it simple-you want people to know your message after only glancing at your t-shirt/button/ribbon for a few seconds

Slogan ideas: Use these or invent your own!

  • Keep abortion legal
  • Pro-child, pro-family, pro-choice
  • Freedom means choice
  • Against gay marriage? Don't have one.
  • Attitudes are the Real Disability.
  • My body, my choice
  • Anti-choice is anti-American
  • Racism is a Social Disease
  • If you can't trust me with a choice, how can you trust me with a child?
  • Keep your rosaries off my ovaries
  • If she says NO, it's Rape.
  • Stand up for choice
  • Hate is NOT a Family Value
  • Beauty comes in all sizes
  • No Extreme Supremes
  • Peace is a Feminist Issue

Some more ideas for t-shirts...

You can Tie-dye! Or make your shirts look like sports jerseys by putting numbers on the back (some ideas for numbers: 05 for the year). Definitely, buy packs of white undershirts instead of individual shirts-they are cheaper. If everyone in your group wears the same colored shirt to a rally (especially if it is a bright color), it will look like there are more of you there.
