United States Postal Service

I have been employed with the United States Postal Service
for 13 years. During my employment, I have always received
favorable evaluations and cash awards.

In 2000, the office that I was employed was scheduled to
close. The manager that I worked under since 1996 offered
me a job in another office under his leadership. Initially,
I turned his offer down because I did not have family
support in the new area. Well he reassured me that he
would work with me so I could care for my children.

After careful consideration, I accepted his offer and I
transferred to the Little Rock, Arkansas metropolitan area.

I did not know that there was a price to accepting this
offer.

Three months into working in this new job, my manager
asked me to do something illegal in my job. I informed him
that what he was asking was not proper, but he then gave me
written instructions to perform the act. I refused,
reported the incident to other postal authorities and
the harassment started. I asked him on several occasions to
stop, but he did not. He made it very hard for me to
perform the duties of my job in an acceptable manner.
My mail was withheld, my telephone conversations were joined
by his secretary and him, he asked employees to write false
statements about me, he limited my use of allied help, he
placed me under another supervisor with no experience in HR
therefore taking away my authority to make decisions; this
caused additional problems.

In addition to these things, there were rumors that he was
having an affair with his secretary, third party sexual
harassment. During this time, I received complaints from
employees of inappropriate acts by the manager. I then
decided to go to the Postal Inspection Service and to higher
authorities. He removed me from my HR function.

Since that time, I have been off on stress leave. I have
been diagnosed with anxiety and mild depression. I am
trying very hard to use all available resources. Please
give advice.
