The problem at my workplace is, favoritism by a senior territory manager toward a (my) peer worker who either irritates or intimidates, all her coworkers. The intimidation stems from the fact that she blantantly gets away with comments, actions and HR abuses. The intimidation stems from the fact that she is loud & can waste time like no other person on the floor. Today she said to the senior territory manager, in a voice loud enough for the entire dept to hear, "I could give a rat's ass!" in response to his comment on a team mate of hers asking for new business. (big push for that at this time)He said, What? She responded, I don't think you want me to repeat that! Followed by the laughter of her team...I heard it and thought, nobody else would get away with that...but then, nobody else would have said that.
This has gone on for the nearly 3 years he's been in our dept. SO, what's the problem? What is not women-friendly here...his behavior? Hers? Or the rest of us who put up with it? The real stunner is that her direct supervisor, a woman who is known & respected for being a no nonsense, excellent manager, goes along with her antics...because the Sr. TM does?
I just heard that women who have good friends decrease their likelihood of having heart attacks - because we are better listeners and we can vent to each other. So thanks for the ear... I know this scenario is played out every day in every company, but it feels good to talk it out.
