Airborne Express encourages sexual harrassment

As a current employee of Airborne Express in Wilmington, Ohio I am amazed that women allow themselves to be intimidated by supervisors who threaten them with termination for refusing sexual advances. Upper management is aware of it and regards sexual harrassment as a useful tool in maintaining a high turnover of employee and reducing their fear of the Wilmington facility becoming union which is badly needed. Although a few women consent to sexual acts with the promise of promotions from upper management, It makes a hostile environment for those of us who refuse. Recently out of frustration one of the area managers has threatened termination for any employee caught talking. The past several weeks he has came to our work area to inspect new potential employees he would like to have sex with. He has asked a few and so far has been rejected. He took it one step further saying that any female going to the rest room had to ask him first as he would be in the area. THis was an attempt to single out those he wants and intimidate them in the company of other managers which is one of Airborne's favorite tactics. Many of the male employees find this horrific and have told management so. I was approached and threatened the same way when I started. I told my supervisor I had a uncle who was a lawyer and a husband who was a bar bouncer. I also told him if he wanted a date he would have to ask my husband who always brought me to and from work. He didn't know I lied but it worked. We must not allow this to continue anywhere. ONly through forums like this and making ourselves heard without fear will it ever change.
