Sorry, That wasn't in the job description.

A few months ago a management position became available in the hospital in which I'm employed. The role of Risk manager in a hospital is traditionally filled by a Registered Nurse. When this position was posted in the hospital, the administator received a total of 7 applicants. Six of which were internal female applicants (of which 5 were RN's) and the seventh applicant was an external male applicant with a Business degree. Guess who got the job!!!!!

Nevermind the fact that this behavior violated the hospital's policies concerning hiring practices within the institution, he was titled "the most qualified" but the administrator says "I'm not at liberty to open the personnel files of individual employees to discuss qualifications". HUH ??

I've taken this matter to the hospital's Board of Trustees for further review but I anticipate a similar dismissal for the matter. If anyone has any suggestions or comments... I would love to hear them.

Cindy
