CSI Subsidiary of Emerson Electric

I am a software engineer. And I have a 29 months old
daugther. I work full time for CSI. During my working
hours my daughter stays in a very nice day-care. My company
has a flexible working hour that work very well with my schedule.
But I only have 10 sick and 10 vacation days a year. And my
husband work required him to travel most of the time.
The problem is lately my daughter has been sick
frequently. For example last month she have chicken pox, and
last week she has a flu. I have taking many sick leaves. Today she
is sick again I decided to bring her to work with me. Being a
software developer, most of my working hours are by myself in a
private cubicle with door close. So I thought is alright to
bring her with me to the office, as long as she is not
making loud noises and disturd my other co-workers. I told
my boss the situation and I told him I would like to make
some progress for the task I assigned to do. I also
explained that I might stay for only a few hours, and once
my daughter feel uncomfortable I would leave. He only said
I should not worry about the project progress and seem to
him that I should go home to take care of my daughter. After
half an hour my boss waliked in and told me that it is the
company policy "kid is not allowed in the workplace". And I
have no choice to go home. So I went home and feel that my company
is not family friendly. I am not sure why the company has
such a rule, is this because of insurance, or they think
kid hinder productivity. I think for this circumstance it is
counter productivity.
