I am an auditor for a civilian agency of the United
States Department of Defense. I was raped by a co-worker,
and developed Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder. During the
criminal investigation, DCAA management returned the rapist
to our common branch office.
I was told he is innocent until proven guilty, and I am
unreasonable to expect a rapist to be removed from my
workplace. I have filed EEO claims for hostile work
environment and failure to accomodate a disability (PTSD).
I am fortunate that I have been able to pay thousands of
dollars in legal fees to pursue my case. But, what about
the women unable to pay thousands of dollars in legal
fees? I am a GS-12. When I was at lower grades, I could
not have pursued this case, due to money. If I had children
to support, I would not have been able to pursue my claims.
If a woman federal employee doesn't have a right to have
a man who raped her transferred to another office in
the same local commuting area, why bother with the Title
VII and EEO charade? The rights of the male rapist
still prevail in the Defense Contract Audit Agency.
