Boss Wants To Get Rid of Me

I wish I could get an answer today as I am leaving this job today at 5:00 p.m. After over four months as a temporary -- supposed to be hired permanently, my boss has decided that I have never and can not do anything right. I am not meeting his level of expectations, I am below average in skills and basically, I do nothing right. This is the first I have heard of this.
I was out sick two weeks in a row, two days each week with some death thing. I had not been sick since 1993! He didn't know this, of course. However, when I called him the second week to say I was too sick to come in, he told me he was going to have to have a talk with me. Probably let me go. I was frantic! I went back to work on the following Thursday, however my boss was on vacation.

When he got back on a Monday, he had said we were going to talk. I was convinced from our previous conversation that he was going to fire me. He spent the next hour and a half telling me how lousy I was.

Anyway, it is Friday and I had already decided I was not coming back. I wouldn't be here today except I believe that anyone who could be so low and mean would try to not pay me and I need him to sign my time card. So, here I am and he is doing his very best to be as mean to me as he can be. It is really dispicable.

I have yet to figure out why he wants to get rid of me. I found out during our talk that there is a list of things that he expects me to take care of, however, I was never told about them. He said he would wait three months or so and we would reevaluate again. I said, please don't wait that long to tell me if I'm not performing up to your expectations! I have never been so shocked as I am about this.

My question, this man has threatened to fire me and is now treating me poorly and I feel he does not have a good reason for it. I was hired here temporarily with the promise that I would be hired permanently as soon as their fiscal year closed (august) and they could open up hiring people again. I received a letter from the corporate office which stated that and although it does leave some loop-holes, it definitely states that if all goes well, I would be hired within 90 days, no more than six months. is there anything I can do about this awful man?

Thanks for your time.

Diane
