On the 25th of December of 1997 I discovered a lump in one of my breast. It prove to be cancer. I worked for the Health and Hospital Corporation in New York City. I lost my medical benefits and now after being out of work since January, I was forced to cut my chemotherapy short and I am considering ending the radiation therapy so that I can return to work. I applied for social security disability and was denied based on the fact that I am a Coordinating Manager. Unionized workers are safer than managers. Managers I have found out have little or no rights. Now I have to make a decision, quit my treatments and go look for a job or file for an appeal. Fighting breast cancer has just about taken all the fight out in me. I have always worked for a living and never asked the government for a hand-out. I am a single women who has been dealt a hard card. I really do not know where to turn. If there is anyone out there that can give me some advise, I welcome it.
