I have been an assembler in a trailer manufacturing plant for the past 4 years.
I make decent pay and for the most part, work with decent people, (my husband also works here).
There are of course, those that think nothing of being vulgar, no matter who might be standing next to them.
In the past 4 years, I personally have endured many incidences of sexual harassment and have been retaliated against when I spoke up because I just could'nt take anymore
Here are a few of the things that have happened to me: Ice water was poured down my shirt
because a co-worker wanted to see if I looked as good in a wet T-shirt as I did in a dry one,
Pictures of a sexual nature drawn on the sides of the trailers right before they get to me,
pictures of nude women pinned onto my locker, drawings of breasts pinned to my locker, a
fabricated XXXX-rated e-mail document containing my name was copied and passed to all
my co-workers, and worst of all, I was grabbed from behind, with my hands pinned and "hunched".
I have made numerous complaints to my supervisor, to Human Resources and even to the plant manager. Nothing has ever been done to stop the behaviors. My husband confronted my "huncher" but was told to let the company handle it.
Needless to say, I am a complete wreck, but I cannot afford to quit so I try to deal with
it the best I can.
